Grape seeds – they are those nasty little things inside a perfectly good grape. It seems their whole purpose in life is simply to annoy you!
But don’t judge a book by its cover, when they are turned into oil, those annoying little things have some magical skincare powers.
So, what are the benefits of grapeseed oil for your skin?
Tone and tighten
That’s what we all want isn’t it? Particularly as we get a bit older (I’ve heard). Grapeseed oil has an ingredient called an astringent which can tone and tighten your skin. This means closing pores, leaving skin looking smoother and moisturized.
Reduce inflammation
Grapeseed oil works by reducing inflammation in the skin. How does it do this? It’s due to fatty acids and some little wonder workers called polyphenols. These fight ageing, minimizing fine lines and wrinkles in your skin.
Protect
Grapeseed oil also has antioxidants that protect your skin from free radicals. These are the nasties that are in pollution. Put simply, they attack your skin and grapeseed oil stops them in their tracks and protects your skin.
Other benefits
This magic oil moisturizes your skin, lightens dark spots, reduces sunspots and helps to get rid of those dreaded dark circles under your eyes. It also helps to treat, prevent and reverse sun damage. And let’s face it (no pun intended), in Australia, we need all the help we can get when it comes to sun damage!
How can you fit this into your day?
All of this sounds amazing, but how can you fit another product into your routine? There are enough steps already, you don’t need another! Your day is busy enough.
It is really simple, include it with an existing step in your routine. Adding a drop of grapeseed oil to your moisturizer or body cream is all you need to do. This helps seal moisture in your skin.
Even as a busy working mum of twin babies, I can fit this into my daily routine easily.
And then on the days when I have a precious few minutes to pamper myself, and I fancy a moisturizing mask, grapeseed oil is there. All I do is warm a few drops of pure grapeseed oil by rubbing in my hands and massaging into my skin. Leave it for as long as you can, up to half an hour and then wash it off. It is pure magic!
